Our Story

How We Look at a Deck Job

We build, repair, and refinish decks for homeowners around Canton, and most of what we know about the trade came from crawling under decks other people built, not from a classroom. Some of us came from framing houses, some from finish carpentry, and decks are where those two things meet. You end up needing a level and a miter saw sharp enough to cut a stair stringer that actually looks right.

If you're on this page, your deck is probably doing one of a few things: sagging in the middle, pulling away from the house at the ledger, or just looking tired after a few Mississippi summers. A sag usually means the joists were spaced too far apart or never sized for the span, so we re-frame instead of just jacking a post underneath and calling it fixed. A ledger pulling loose means water got behind it, so we flash it properly and lag-bolt it back into the rim joist where it's supposed to carry that load.

Why Choose Us

What you get when you hire us

None of this is complicated. It is mostly just doing what we said we would do.

Licensed and Insured

We're licensed to build decks in Mississippi and carry liability coverage on every job. If a ladder falls into your flower bed or a post hole nicks a sprinkler line, that's on our policy, not yours.

Straight Written Quotes

Every quote breaks out labor, lumber, hardware, and railing separately, so you can see where the money goes. No verbal estimate that turns into a different number on the invoice.

We Pull the Permits

Most decks over 30 inches high need a permit and an inspection before you can use them. We file that paperwork and schedule the inspection so you don't have to learn the code yourself.

We Show Up On Schedule

Lumber deliveries and weather can move a schedule, but we tell you before it happens instead of after. You'll usually know within a day or two if rain is going to push the framing back.

Real Choice of Materials

Some homeowners want the lower cost of pressure-treated pine and don't mind staining it every couple years. Others want composite decking that never needs sealing and costs more up front, and we'll walk you through both.

Same Crew Start to Finish

We don't hand your deck off between a framing crew and a finish crew like it's an assembly line. The same guys who set your footings are the ones screwing down the last board.

Common Questions

Things people ask us

Questions about who we are and how we work.

How long has Oasis Deck Co been building decks?
A specific number of years isn't listed here, since the crew's background spans both house framing and finish carpentry, covering the structural and cosmetic sides of a deck build.
Do you use your own crew or subcontractors?
Deck construction at Oasis Deck Co is handled by an in-house crew rather than subcontractors, so the same people setting footings also finish the railings and decking.
Can I see examples of past deck work?
Photos of completed deck installations and repairs are available on request or in the gallery section of the website, showing a range of decking materials and railing styles.
Why hire a smaller deck builder instead of a large company?
A smaller deck building crew typically means direct contact with the person actually doing the work, rather than a project manager relaying messages between a homeowner and a rotating crew.
Where is Oasis Deck Co based?
Oasis Deck Co is based in Canton, Mississippi, and works throughout Madison County and the surrounding towns.
Do you work year-round, including during rainy stretches?
Deck construction continues through most of the year in Mississippi, though heavy spring rain can push framing schedules back by days rather than weeks.
Do you clean up the yard after finishing a deck?
Job site cleanup after deck construction includes hauling off scrap lumber, old decking from tear-outs, and sweeping sawdust and screws out of the grass before leaving.
What happens if something gets damaged during construction, like a sprinkler line or fence?
Damage to a sprinkler line, fence, or landscaping during deck construction is covered under the contractor's liability insurance and repaired as part of the job.
Will you finish a deck that another contractor started or abandoned?
Picking up a deck project left unfinished by another contractor is possible after an assessment of what's already built, since footing depth and framing from a different crew need to be checked before continuing.
How can I tell my deck was built correctly?
A properly built deck should have no bounce when walked on, railings that don't flex at the post, and a ledger board that's flashed and bolted rather than just nailed to the house, all of which a building inspector checks before signing off on the permit.
